Mullahs’
War with Iranians Rages on
Almost two years
have past since the barbaric public execution of
Atefe Rajabi, the 16-year old teenage Iranian
girl, in northern town of Neka. Since then, with
ascendancy of the notorious and extremely
suppressive Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps’
elite to all levers of power, culminating in
Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s presidency last year, the
human rights situation and suppression of
dissidents have only worsened in Iran.
Ahmadinejad is indeed the clearest declaration
yet of the war the clerical regime has waged on
millions of Iranians at home, and on the peace
and security of the world, since coming to power
in 1979. Since then tens of thousands of
Iranians have been killed by firing squads and
gallows or in torture dungeons of the mullahs.
The killings have not stopped.
Just last week, Ashraf Kalhori, an Iranian woman
reportedly convicted of having an adulterous
relationship, was sentenced to death by stoning.
Her lawyer has asked for international help to
stop the sentence. After a temporary lull in
issuing death by stoning, Iran’s religious
courts have been ordering a growing number of
stoning in recent months. Official numbers
indicate five death orders by stoning have been
issued in the past twelve months according to
Adnkronos International.
Iran’s state broadcaster's reported last week
that "Ten people have been sentenced to be
publicly hanged for the bomb attacks in (the
provincial capital of Khuseztan) Ahvaz for
making war against God and acting against
national security". Systematic lack of due
process of law renders these charges and
subsequent sentences illegitimate. It is however
very evident the ruling regime is using its Iron
fist to punish Ahvazis for their several days of
anti-regime popular unrest last year.
So far in 2006, more than 100 Iranians have been
sentenced to death, mostly in public. A
significant number of the executed are teenage
Iranians.
Also this month, Iran’s judiciary sentenced a
man to 50 lashes and six months in prison for
taking part in a massive anti-government rally
in the north-western city of Tabriz earlier this
year, according to Iran Focus. Many protestors
arrested in recent unrest in northwestern Iran
have received heavy prison terms during summary
trials. Many more are detained without being
officially charged, some have simply
disappeared.
From Iraq to Lebanon, the clerical regime is
fighting a proxy war to consolidate its regional
radical and fundamentalist roots. Iranian
cities, however, have remained the main
battlegrounds of Tehran’s existential war: the
war clerical regime has been waging against its
own people for more than 27 years.
And this is the war the tyrannical mullahs have
been trying to mask by their continued
belligerence abroad. And it is their defeat in
this war which would ultimately bring the end of
Tehran’s terrorist proxies throughout the region
as well its nuclear weapons drive.
